Chinese Language Winter School of Tianjin University aims to offer international students a valuable opportunity to visit China and experience China. 5. Course and Activities
◆ Chinese Course: Everyday Chinese expressions are taught according to your Chinese language proficiency.
◆ Chinese Culture Course: Cultural courses include Chinese Calligraphy, Chinese Painting, Paper Cutting, Chinese Knot, Seal Cutting, Peking Opera Mask Painting, Tai-chi, Martial Arts, etc.
◆ Tianjin Sightseeing Tours: TJU Campus Tour, Visit Tianjin University History Museum, Tianjin Cultural Center (Tianjin Museum), Visit Tianjin Ancient Culture Street, Nanshi Food Street, Five Avenue Tourist Area (Minyuan Square).

Chinese Course
1. Students can use the new words and grammar in daily Chinese communication skillfully by reinforcing new words and grammar study.
2. Introduce Chinese traditional culture to the students so that students can have a preliminary understanding of Chinese culture.
Chinese Calligraphy
1. Appreciation of the calligraphy and brief introduction to the history of Chinese Calligraphy. Introduce the tools and specifications of calligraphy.
2. Demonstration of the basic strokes, character practice of the regular script.
Chinese Painting
1. Introduction of the characteristics, classification and system of Chinese Painting.
2. Introduce the Chinese painting tools, such as paper, brush, ink.
Paper Cutting
1. Brief introduction of Chinese Paper Cutting.
2. Introduction to the basic operation and tools of Paper Cutting.
Seal Cutting
1. Understand the Seal Cutting art.
2. Learn the basic techniques and operation process of Seal Cutting.
Peking Opera Mask Painting
1. Understand the meaning of the mask painting.
2. Learn the steps of painting, such as drawing lines, color, etc.
Chinese Knot
1. Understand the Chinese knot.
2. Introduce the tools of Chinese knot.
3. Demonstration of how to make a Chinese knot.
Tai Chi, Martial Arts
1. The teacher introduces the basic knowledge of Tai chi or Martial Arts and shows the basic action.
2. Necessary warm-up exercise under the teacher`s leadership and learn the basic footwork, fist exercise.
3. Students practice the movement they have learned.
7. Introduction of Scenes in Tianjin Sightseeing Tours
◆ Tianjin University History Museum
The history museum was rebuilt from the first teaching building of Tianjin University. To protect the original style and features of the old building, the school sets a glass antechamber outside the old building. Through the introduction of TJU time tunnel, visitors can see the important historical photos of the great history of Tianjin University.
◆ Tianjin Ancient Culture Street
Tianjin Ancient Culture Street with 600 years history, standing in the area of key section in upstream of the Haihe River, is located in Nankai district of Tianjin. Covering an area of 224,200 sq meters, it used to be one of earliest water transport docklands in Tianjin where is one of the busiest cities of commerce and trade in history. As a cultural precinct, Tianjin Ancient Culture Street is well known by the local and overseas tourists.
◆ Nanshi Food Street
Nanshi Food Street is the biggest food street in China. While tasting famous snacks from Tianjin, you can also savor the flavors of eight Chinese cuisines. All of these add to its high reputation as a food palace.
◆ Tianjin Museum
The current Tianjin Museum can be traced back to a predecessor of the same name founded in 1918, making it one of the oldest museums in China. Over the past century the museum has amalgamated with numerous other museums and art galleries. Today the Tianjin Museum’s diverse collection includes over 200,000 objects and a 200,000-volume library, making the museum an institution that melds culture and history. In 2008 it was recognised as a first-grade Chinese museum.
◆ Five Avenue Tourist Area
Five Avenue Tourist Area, is famous for its five avenues, which includes Machangdao, Munandao, Dalidao, Chongqingdao and Chengdudao. There are altogether 22 roads with a total length of 17 kilometers and an area of 1.28 square kilometers. There are over 2,000 garden-style architectures built in 1920s and 1930s. There're also over 300 former residences of celebrities. It is globally recognized as the demonstration architectural zone in modern times.
